Research into future options

Media Inspirations

The first task of this project was to research into inspirations within the media industry. I explained in detail how I looked up to Mark Zuckerberg and the problems he faced during his rise to success.

Options for the future

I then had to research into both higher education options and full time careers within the media industry. I had a look into one of the university courses which I could potentially take in the future. It is a media course that is at Sunderland University. I have explained on my blog post the course itself in detail and why I am thinking of choosing this course after I have finished college.  

I researched into a job within the industry which I liked the sound of and which I feel that I would be able to have the skills to take on that job. The blog post has a detailed explanation about the job itself such as salary and qualifications etc. 

Creating my brand identity

Digital Profiles

I had to research into what is a digital profile. I added the definition and why it is useful for work. Then I was tasked with analysing existing digital profiles. I added two existing digital profiles that I found on google and explained the positives within the profile and why they are work appropriate and how it can be appealing to a company.

Constructing a CV

The blog post included a definition of a CV. It also included why and how it is used for jobs and how it helps someone get a certain job. I then added two examples of existing CV's and explained how they are both good CV's and how they would help get a job. I then created my CV on a google doc then posted the link onto my blog post. Then I evaluated the CV and pointed out the key points such as work experience and GCSE's. I also explained how a CV will change for the better over time.

Constructing a Personal Statement

This blog post was very similar to the blog post about my CV. It has the same aspects such as a definition , two example and a link to the personal statement itself. Also there is an evaluation on my personal statement which goes over what I have done for the statement.

Business Logos  

I researched different business logos that belong to small businesses. I have explained the effectiveness on the logos and how some of them link to their local communities which is good for both the business and the community. I then pasted on a collage of logos from world famous companies such as Mcdonalds, Starbucks and shell. I explained how the logos are very simple but still worked as they are so recognisable. I posted a picture of my business logo and explained why the colour scheme was chosen. I also posted a picture of my original logo design and why that design was not used. I then gathered feedback on google forms and put it on my blog. I also gave my thoughts on the feedback I was given.

Business Cards

I have explained what a business card is and why it is used. I have also given examples of existing business cards of employers of different companies or small business owners. I created my business card and explained why I chose this colour scheme and the details I have added onto my business card. I then created a google form for feedback and once the feedback was gathered I posted it on my blog. I evaluated the feedback after it was posted on my blog.

Website

I created my website on a website called wix. I explained why I have put the certain projects on my website. I then added photos to show what the pages actually look like. I also talked about the other stuff I added such as the showreel and the about me page. I went over the feedback I received and explained the changes I made. To conclude the blog post I added a link to my website. 

Showreel

I started off by giving a short explanation of what a showreel is. I gave 2 examples of existing showreels that I found on YouTube and analyzed them both in detail. I had to explain my idea for what I was going to do for my showreel. I used premier pro to create the showreel and I uploaded it to YouTube. Like the other stuff I created I gathered feedback on google forms and posted the feedback on blogger. I took advice from the feedback and created an improved showreel and uploaded it to YouTube. It is also the one I have used on my website.

Mock Interview

For my mock interview I was tasked to go into an interview as if I was working for Channel 4. Therefore I had to research into the company and what types of jobs they have to offer. I also researched stuff such as the companies history and interview techniques. I then posted screenshots from a word document onto my blog which included notes on 5 questions that I could've been asked during the mock interview. I then posted the full video of my mock interview and wrote down the feedback I received just below the video. 

Undertaking Network Opportunities

BBC Pitch Presentation 

I created a pitch presentation for David Longworth who works for the BBC. I was tasked with creating a pitch presentation about an idea for a TV show. I posted a link to the actual google slide which has my pitch on there. I posted an image of what the setup looked like for the pitch presentation. I posted a screenshot on my blog of the word document which goes through what went on and how this helped me gain experience which I thought gave me a lot of help for the future as I will probably come across these situation so therefore it helps a lot. 

Overall

In conclusion to B1 I feel like I am more experienced in everything I have covered. I feel like it went well however some of the parts like creating a website design I struggled with. However it was my first time creating a website so I feel I would be more experienced if I had to make another one in the future. I feel like I am more confident and knowledgeable in the topics I have covered throughout this project. I feel like the presentation network project has helped me gain experience with what can happen in the industry and also the creation of the likes of my business card and business logo has also helped me gain experience. I feel like my analyzing skills have developed since last year as the existing products what I have reviewed are in detail. I have also developed skills such as problem solving with the feedback I had received whilst working on my brand identity. For example the likes of my business card and showreel were changed after I received the feedback. I also gave feedback on others work. This also shows problem solving as I have picked apart what my classmates can do better and what they have already done well.
